From Livorno Cruise Port
Ponte Vecchio Guide for Cruise Passengers
Medieval bridge of goldsmiths — Florence's most romantic crossing.
Distance
10-minute walk from the Duomo
Travel time
On foot within Florence
Time needed
Allow 20–30 minutes
The Ponte Vecchio spans the Arno with jewellers' shops built along its span — the only bridge in Florence spared during WWII. It is a 10-minute walk from the Duomo and essential on any Florence day.
Cruise ships dock at Livorno's commercial cruise terminal (Molo Garibaldi / Darsena Toscana), the gateway to Tuscany. Florence is roughly 90 km inland, Pisa about 25 km south and Lucca 35 km east. Most passengers reach Tuscany by coach excursion, private transfer or regional train from Livorno Centrale. Build a 60–90 minute buffer before all-aboard — motorway traffic returning from Florence can add 20–40 minutes on peak summer days.
Walk the bridge in 15–20 minutes; allow extra time for window shopping and photos from the Corridoio Vasariano viewpoints. Sunset sailings may catch golden light if your excursion departs Florence after 16:00.
The bridge is crowded 11:00–15:00 on cruise days. Visit early with your excursion or save it for the return walk toward the coach pickup.
